The Junction Dance Festival is sponsoring and is pleased to present the 2021 ChoreoLab Closing Performance, featuring work by ChoreoLab participants Martina Lundstrom http://martinalundstrom.com and Mary Chris DeBelina http://debelinadance.weebly.com .They will be joined by dancers Anna Goodling, Leila Faulstich, Ellis Broderick and Elizabeth Kurylo.
Martina Lundström’s performances address the ambivalence about being an artist while living off a trust fund. She challenges her inheritance of a power and privilege that has been beneficial to her. By narrating vulnerable stories about herself, her family and her dog, as well as fantasies and fairytales, she breaks through the dysfunctional silence that oppresses and protects the culture of the owning class.
She received an MFA with a focus on performance at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University in 2019.
Vermont Dance Alliance (VDA) will present TRACES 2021 in three locations simultaneously: Montpelier, White River Junction & Burlington. Traces, a day of outdoor dance happenings, will celebrate the change into summer, dancing in public spaces, and connection of community. Traces began in 2016 as a day-long festival of outdoor dance happenings throughout downtown Burlington VT. As we move into our fifth annual Traces event, VDA has chosen the theme of water conservation. We believe that together we can make a difference in protecting the water in our communities.
This workshop is being offered to help introduce the theme of water with choreography and dance, and to provide inspiration for the 17 Vermont choreographers who are participating in Traces 2021.
The ChoreoLab is a brand new program sponsored by The Junction Dance Festival, offering a unique opportunity for choreographers and dance artists to create and collaborate. For nine weeks, from June 1st to July 31st, five selected choreographers from Vermont and New Hampshire will have the privilege of using a professional dance studio to create their own dance project, at no charge.
