Being A Singular They

Being A Singular They

Join me on Monday evening to talk about performing as a nonbinary person - how my gender has shaped my work and vice versa. I'll be showing some excerpts from A Singular They, including the evolution of the oldest work in the show from 2014-present, during which time quite a lot of gender has happened to it. We'll talk about what it's like to choreograph through transition and to make choices in presentation as a nonbinary person in a distinctly binary world.

Call for Water Dance Film Submissions!

Call for Water Dance Film Submissions!

As part of the 20201 VDA "Traces" Outdoor Dance Festival, VDA is so excited to produce a Virtual Film Festival of dance films based on our theme of water and water conservation. Submissions are open to dance/film artists of any level. We encourage all artists to fully embrace the theme of water as the initiative for this work. If works are not related to this theme they may not be appropriate for this festival.

At Star Mountain: A Dance Film

At Star Mountain: A Dance Film

Created by local dance artists Lydia Roe and Lucia Gagliardone, At Star Mountain is a pandemic-era dance project that will soothe your soul. It is restful. It is rooted. It is tender. You'll see some dancing and some trees and maybe, some reflection of the grief, gratitude, and isolation so many of us have faced this year.

THE ACTIVATION

THE ACTIVATION

Movers 12 and up of all experiences and abilities, join THE ACTIVATION, organized by artists Millie Heckler, Angelina Ponzio Labate and Hanna Satterlee with videographers Paul Bronislaw Kmiec and Marni Leikin.

This one-time event aims to create and hold space for people to join in a movement meditation & site specific public installation. A simple movement score will be introduced on site, with the option to participate in a guided live interview. The footage will create a short film rallying people to vote and make change.
