Ruth Childs is pleased to give a short masterclass on the choreographic work of Lucinda Childs focusing on the period that comes after the Judson Dance Theater period. In the 1970s, three founding elements appear in Lucinda’s way of creating: the use of a score, a path in a space and a rhythm imposed without music. Ruth wants to share, discuss and work on the scores of Calico Mingling (1973) and Katema (1978.)

Vermont Dance Alliance (VDA) will present TRACES 2021 in three locations simultaneously: Montpelier, White River Junction & Burlington. Traces, a day of outdoor dance happenings, will celebrate the change into summer, dancing in public spaces, and connection of community. Traces began in 2016 as a day-long festival of outdoor dance happenings throughout downtown Burlington VT. As we move into our fifth annual Traces event, VDA has chosen the theme of water conservation. We believe that together we can make a difference in protecting the water in our communities.
