Exploring New Terrain: Finding our Movement Potential with Nathalie Jonas

This Spring, from January through May, VDA is partnering with two Vermont dance studios: "Open Door Integrative Wellness" in White River Junction and "SoBo Studio" in Brattleboro to bring exciting weekend workshops to the Vermont dance community! We are calling the series "Exploring New Terrain..." happening once per month, introducing new ways of dancing, and unique styles of dance practices.

Join us Sunday February 21st from 10am-12noon for a dynamic workshop with Nathalie Jonas!

In this movement class participants will discover and use their full range of physicality. We will find kinesthetic ease and efficiency by exploring muscle and bone connections, articulating the spine and opening the joints. We will integrate different approaches and philosophies to movement, including techniques that take us in and out of the floor and direct our energy through the space. Curiosity and play are two key ideas in the work we will do. Through asking questions and rigorous play we can open ourselves up to a fluid process that allows for surprising outcomes.
Open to any active adult

Nathalie studied as well at the Feldenkrais Institute in Manhattan, and her approach to movement—both as a teacher and a choreographer—finds inspiration in her ongoing work as a certified Feldenkrais practitioner. Nathalie is currently on faculty at the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University and a doctoral student at Texas Woman's University. Nathalie recently relocated to Vermont from the Hudson Valley in New York and is thrilled to be a part of Vermont Dance Alliance.
