Opportunity to be a part of the Vermont Dance Ensemble, directed by Hanna Satterlee of ANIMAL Dance, to join a performance tour with Loom Ensemble this summer! Loom Ensemble, directed by Neva Cockrell and Raphael Sacks, is working with a core group of professional actors from throughout the US to create the show "Tell Me How You Breathe" for outdoor parks in MA, VT and NY this summer. The Vermont Dance Ensemble will join their show during the first leg of the tour!
About the show "Tell Me How You Breathe:" Wildfires choke the air, police steal breath, and respiratory disease halts business-as-usual. The lungs are the site of interconnectedness and the organ of grief. Though these intersecting crisis were highlighted in 2020, in many ways they continue to intensify. “Who gets to breathe freely, fully, with ease,” is still a necessary question, directly touching on racism, environmental crisis, and public health. In “Tell Me How You Breathe,” Loom Ensemble is bringing a diverse ensemble of professional dance-theater performers into public parks across New England, to move the grief up and out. With the nourishment of participatory ceremony and song, Loom grounds this political conversation in the physical body, to incite the radical act of collectively imagining a more just and beautiful world.
Looking for 5-7 strong movers, ages 16 and up.
Must be available for all rehearsal and performance dates, and is responsible for own transportation- we will try to work out carpooling with the group!
Movement experience required, formal dance training not required!

Hanna Satterlee creates performance experiences and conceptual artworks for stage, site and film. Hanna holds degrees and certifications in dance therapy, psychology, performance, choreography, vinyassa/yin/restorative yoga, non-profit management and arts integration. Hanna shares these passions as an intergenerational educator, interdisciplinary performer + collaborator, experimental curator and event producer.
Hanna holds a double BA in Dance/Psychology with a concentration in Dance Therapy from Goucher College and a Masters in Interdisciplinary Arts from Goddard College. From 2010-15 Hanna served as the Director of Professional Programming & Director of Teen Jazz at the Contemporary Dance & Fitness Studio in Montpelier Vermont, and has been a guest lecturer at Johnson State College and Middlebury College, and adjunct faculty at Vermont Law School, the University of Vermont and currently at Northern Vermont University and Saint Michael's College.

Neva Cockrell is a dancer, director, and movement instructor. She tours internationally with Pilobolus (China, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Dubai, Mexico, Israel, and US) and directs new dance-theater works in the US, Dubai, and Europe with her company Loom Ensemble. When she isn't directing or performing, she is teaching her own movement technique, Catalyst Training, which she developed in 2016. She is based at the Art Monastery in Springfield, VT. Her life path is deeply ground in communal living, body-based activities, art-making, being outside, and contemplative practice.
