Brattleboro School of Dance Announces Open Auditions for Annual Spring Show
February 1st, 2020 - 22 High Street, Brattleboro, VT 1-802-254-6884
BSD invites all interested dancers in the community to attend an open audition on February 1st for our Annual Spring Show to be held May 15-17 at The New England Youth Theater.
Moons and Mirrors takes the audience on a mysterious and other-worldly excursion into the past, present, and future of dance at BSD. In this show, we wander off the beaten path, guided by the light of the moon, and revel in what our reflections reveal. The moon shines light into darkness, always there to remind us of its cycles. The mirror shows us who we are, what is behind us, and what is reflected in our hopes and dreams. This show will feature two works from the BSD archives, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves: a Jazzy take on the fairytale classic, and Interlopers: a peek into the patterns and predilections of wolves. Other works include pieces from the past that are transformed for the present stage, and utterly new works inspired by the theme and imagery of Moons and Mirrors. By reviving old works, and bringing in the new, BSD will create reflections to the past and projections into the future - ushering in a new decade of dance.
We are looking for versatile and enthusiastic dancers aged 6 through adults with varied levels of training in ballet, modern, tap, jazz, and hip hop. We are especially looking for experienced adult dancers!
(Tap - all ages)
(ages 12 & up/all levels)
(ages 16 & up/advanced)
Things to Know: Use backdoor Green St. Entrance up the hill. Come a bit early to register and warm up. Dress should be appropriate to the type of dance you are trying out for, including footwear. Be prepared to list rehearsal schedule conflicts. We’re looking for a high level of commitment regarding rehearsal attendance. A $40.00 payment is required for each dancer at the audition. This is a down payment on your performance fee, which is $40 for each piece you are cast in. (All auditioners will be cast in at least one piece.) This pays choreographers for their original works and professional level rehearsals and performance instruction. Please contact Bridget Struthers at bridget@BrattleboroSchoolOfDance.com or the BSD phone number above, or Holly Johnson at email@example.com. Come join us for a great learning experience and a lot of fun!
