Movies at Main Street Landing to benefit VDA!

Main Street Landing Performing Arts Center is a unique, elegant, and beautiful venue on the Burlington waterfront. At Main Street Landing we strive to promote ecological integrity, economic security, empowerment and responsibility, and social well-being. During the month of January, all donations gathered at the free Tuesday night movie series will benefit the Vermont Dance Alliance! So bring a few bucks, a few friends, and mambo with us!

Tuesday January 7th, 7pm: Hairspray
Written & Directed by John Waters (1988)
Set in 1962 Baltimore, Maryland, the film revolves around self-proclaimed "pleasantly plump" teenager Tracy Turnblad as she pursues stardom as a dancer on a local TV show and rallies against racial segregation.

Tuesday January 14th, 7pm: The Godfather
Written by Mario Puzo & Francis Ford Coppola, Directed by Francis Ford Coppola (1972)
The Godfather gets everything right; not only did the movie transcend expectations, it established new benchmarks for American cinema. The story, spanning 1945 to 1955, chronicles the family under the patriarch Vito Corleone, focusing on the transformation of the son Michael Corleone, raised to have a life outside of crime, from reluctant family outsider to ruthless mafia boss.

Tuesday January 21st, 7pm: Top Hat
Written by Allan Scott, Dwight Taylor, Ben Holmes, & Ralph Spence. Directed by Mark Sandrich (1935)
A glamorous and enthralling Depression-era classic, Top Hat is nearly flawless, the greatest film by Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Watch the most magnificent dace team to ever grace the silver screen as they make the hardest physical stunts seem light as air. Jerry Travers is an American dancer who comes to London to star in a show produced by Horace Hardwick. It's there that he meets and attempts to win the affection of Dale Tremont against love-rival and fashion designer Alberto Beddini.

Tuesday January 28th, 7pm: Almost Famous
Written & Directed by Cameron Crowe (2000)
Almost Famous, tells the story of a teenage journalist writing for Rolling Stone in the early 1970s, his touring with the fictitious rock band Stillwater, and his efforts to get his first cover story published.
