Call for Dance: Traces!

Vermont Dance Alliance is planning our 2nd annual Traces event, a day of free outdoor dance in downtown Burlington on Saturday, June 16!

We invite YOU to submit your proposals for dance of any and all styles and genres by May 1st. This is a great opportunity to showcase new work, dip your toes into site-specific dance, or to showcase the style of dance you practice or teach, by offering an outdoor demonstration.

Your performances of 10 minutes or less, will happen outside all over downtown Burlington, from the Church Street Market Place to the Waterfront, between 11am and 5pm. All performances will take place outdoors and will be free to the public.

This year we have partnered with Burlington City Arts and the Church Street Market Place! A VDA table will be set up in front of BCA on Church Street, where there will be maps and performance listings of the day’s happenings.

Proposals submitted by May 1 will be included in the Traces map and performance listings.

Please submit your proposal to and include the following:

-choreographer or group name
-description of your performance
-names of performers and personnel (there must be one non-performer present who can speak to audience and public to let them know where to sit/stand/be, and to help keep performers safe)
-length of piece
-time of performance
-chosen site of performance: must be within Church, Pearl, Main and the Waterfront. If you will be performing in front of a business, you must obtain permission directly from them. If you need assistance choosing a place, please let us know so we can help.
