Pilates Mat

Join me for a Pilates Mat class every Monday at 6pm and Friday at 5:30pm (both eastern time). I infuse elements of the Feldenkrais method with traditional mat pilates for an hour long class that leaves you feeling grounded and centered. My class is focused on bringing awareness to your imbalances and moving back towards center - which I'm finding especially important during this time of shifted daily patterning. Join me on your mat, or grass, or beach towel - whatever you have available! Suggested $5-10, but all are welcome regardless of ability to pay. You can register at www.homebod.fit.

Artist Statement: I work through the media of movement, time, and the body in a time when technology draws us away from experiencing our embodied selves. Many technological platforms now use live stream as a means of connecting distant people and spaces. But how do these ever present “lives” shift our own experience of live-ness in our physical form? I intersect live technology and improvisation in a myriad of ways to experiment around these questions. This research takes on different forms from installation to proscenium performance, and through it I aim to create space for viewers to confront their own “lives.” Bio: Sarah Rose earned her BA in Classics from Princeton University and her MFA in Choreography and Performance from Florida State University. She has shown her choreography in Princeton, NJ, New York City, NY, Brooklyn, NY, Queens, NY, Warren, VT, and Tallahassee, FL. Most recently she created the installation “12 Hours” which was presented by SMUSH Gallery in Jersey City, NJ, February 21-22, 2020. In addition to her own work, she collaborates with Ross Daniel on choreographic work under the name DanielRose Projects (www.danielroseprojects.com). The pair were selected for MANCC’s (Maggie Allesee National Center for Choreography) inaugural Forward Dialogues program for emerging artists in May, 2017 and have continued their collaborative choreographic work since that time with performances at WAXworks (Brooklyn, NY), Dixon Place (NYC, NY), DanceFest Milford (Milford, PA), Phantom Theater (Warren, VT), and SMUSH Gallery (Jersey City, NJ). Rose has also performed professionally with Gwen Welliver, Ross Daniel, Cassandra Cotta, Megan Lynn, Sarah Muskat, and others. She is a trainee in the Boston Feldenkrais training program (2016-2020).
