Dylan McLaughlin uses film as a conduit for discourse and discovery in artistic practice, through portraits and short documentary. Driven by inquiries in environment, perception, movement, community, and mythology, he explores “moving within moving systems”. Investigating improvisation, articulating essentiality, and spacial sensibility through work with dancers, musicians, and performing artists.
He invites into his own artistic practice film as a technology and toolset, with intentions to articulate emotional landscape, response, and reaction through visual dialogue. What are the stories we carry deep in our bellies? What moves us and how does this inform the way we move? This is a conversation made visible in his narrative work, documentary, installation, and experimentation.
